DOMINIC GAZIANO,
M.D.
Creator, Executive Producer
e-mail: dgaziano@hlweekly.com
Dr. Dominic Gaziano is a practicing
General Internal Medicine physician in Chicago and BBC World recognized
wellness practitioner. The director of Body and Mind Medical Wellness
Clinic, a resident medical teaching attending physician at St.
Mary’s Hospital, Dr. Gaziano has made numerous television appearances
as a medical expert on health, fitness and nutrition. He often
comments on preventive medicine and holistic health matters in
magazines. Most recently, Dr. Gaziano was named the Medical Director
of Advocate Illinois Masonic Hospital’s holistic medicine program.
He is presently serving on the Chicago Fitness Council, Mayor
Daley’s health and fitness task force.
Having completed his medical research fellowship
at Northwestern University in 1996, Dr. Gaziano explored his other
great interest…writing. He completed the advanced two-year playwriting
workshop at Chicago’s Victory Gardens Theater, the 2001 Tony Award-winner
for Best Regional Theater and graduated the Second City acting
and writing comedy school. Dr. Gaziano then went on to recruit
Second City talent for his first TV show, Fitness Follies…the
Saturday Night Live for fitness! Fitness Follies is presently
being used in Chicago secondary schools to teach students about
proper nutrition and fitness. In addition, Dr. Gaziano is an expert
in stress management, holding stress relief seminars and lecturing
to medical staff and the community.
With the increase in managed institutional health
care, Americans are learning they must take care of themselves.
If they do not, they become a victim rather than a victor to their
health vulnerabilities. After seeing the struggles many Americans
face with deciphering western and holistic medicine now made available
on the Web and TV, and the limited time patients are able to spend
with their doctors, Dr. Gaziano was inspired to create a TV show
that could integrate this self help information in an informative,
simple and fun way.
Dr. Gaziano
is an avid runner and tri-athlete. He has drawn upon his extensive
medical training and his ever-expanding knowledge of nutrition,
athletics, and living a healthy lifestyle, combined with his writing
and production experience, to create Health and Lifestyles Weekly,
the most creative and informative health magazine show ever produced.
When not working, Dr Gaziano continues some of his Italian gourmet
traditions and enjoys hosting dinner parties.
